Live stream FAQ

NDSJ Friends & Family:

  • No live stream even though it is on the schedule? Remember that we are at the mercy of both the availability and performance of the on-site school WiFi network. If the game has started but there is no live stream, we are probably tackling technical issues. We use mobile AT&T 4G access for back-up, but that is dependent on AT&T network coverage and does takes additional time to set-up.  For games that we plan on streaming we will send an email to everyone on the notification list letting you know when we go live or if we cannot start the live stream. Our first priority is to get the stream live and to start recording the game. Email notifications come next.

What do I need to view this live stream?
Any computer with a modern browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari) will work – just make sure you have updated or installed the latest version.

Can I watch this on my tablet or smartphone?
Yes.

Can I make the video bigger?
Yes. Roll your mouse over the video player and you will see an icon in the lower right that has two arrows. Click it and the video will go full-screen. To exit full-screen viewing, press the escape key on your keyboard.

If you choose full screen the quality of the video will adjust based on your connection speed and computer performance. In most cases you will see an improvement in image quality after 60-90 seconds.

What if I do not see video on this page?
When the stream has started the video will play at the top of the page. If you visited this page before we began live streaming simply reload this page to see if we have started the stream.

Why can’t I hear anything?
Once we start streaming you will typically hear the audio from the location, often music. But sometimes there is no audio until the program actually starts. The audio will be played through your computer speakers so the first thing to check is your speaker volume. If you do not hear audio, we recommend visiting a video site like YouTube and playing any video. If you can hear audio there you should not have a problem.

I am having intermittent problems with the audio and video. What should I do?
If you use a WiFi wireless Internet connection you may wish to try a wired ethernet connection to the Internet. Although wireless Internet connections are convenient they do vary in quality and can negatively impact the performance of a live video stream. If you experience intermittent streaming issues this is the first thing to check.

The stream has stopped. What should I do?
If your stream stops simply refresh this page (or close and relaunch your browser) and reconnect to the live stream. Inconsistent or slow Internet connections can degrade, interrupt, or even stop a live broadcast.

If the problem persists, there may be an Internet outage impacting our stream for all viewers. In that case, please remember that we are recording this program, and you can view it as an on-demand video in just a few days.
